Hysto at Relatively Young Age

I've suffered debilitating cramps for 25 years now and have always debated getting a hysto. Now that I'm older, my doctors seem willing, though not eager, to let me do it if I push them (they finally seem to believe me when I say that I don't want kids). I'm starting to seriously consider the option and have some questions for those who have been through it at a relatively young age.

I used to think getting a hysto was a bad idea because I'd go into menopause and have to go on female hormone replacement therapy and I'd risk early osteoporosis.  But the more that I learn, it seems like, if you leave the ovaries, you don't have to take HRT and there's no additional risk of osteoporosis.  Is this true?

Next question involves sex...if you aren't on female HRT after the surgery, does vaginal lubrication change as a result of the surgery and do the vaginal walls get thinner?  What about sex drive? Assuming that all goes well with the surgery and there aren't complications (and the cervix is left intact and the ovaries left)...does having a hysto change your sex life?

Any thoughts would be great.  Thanks.
